Pastor's Study 65. Sinclair Seamen’s Presbyterian Church, Cathedral Quarter, Belfast. A short worship service from the pastor’s study. The How-To's of Doing Church from 1 Timothy. We come to the end of this significant letter from old Apostle Paul to young Pastor Timothy, a letter I have described as a manual on How to Do Church.  Paul, the mentor, concludes his epistle with a short charge to Timothy and I explain what he is saying to his young mentee, and, indeed, to all Christians.

(1 Timothy chapter 6 verses 20-21)

O Timothy, guard the deposit entrusted to you. Avoid the irreverent babble and contradictions of what is falsely called “knowledge,” for by professing it some have swerved from the faith.
Grace be with you.
(1 Timothy chapter 6 verses 20-21)

The final 'How-To' - 'How to minister to, and/or relate to, problem groups, or potential problem groups, in the Church.' Wealthy Christians are the last problem group in the congregation, or potential problem group, that Paul advises Timothy on. I explain how wealthy Christians are to have the right attitude to their wealth which should lead to right behaviour which will lead to the right results.

It also encourages  Christians who are lacking in financial means to be content with having the necessities of life and not to foster a love for money because it is a root of all kinds of evils. Timely words because of the damage being done by some teachers today.
